Privacy
RSSolo processes only the data it needs to work. None of it is sold, handed over or used for advertising.
Sign-in. You sign in with a password, which is never stored in plain text: the server keeps only a fingerprint from which the password cannot be worked out. After signing in a technical session cookie remains, needed to stay signed in; it lasts thirty days and contains no personal data. You can add two-step verification with Authenticator.
What is saved. The sources you follow, read and favourite articles, filters and labels. Downloaded sources and articles are shared between users so they aren’t downloaded several times; read status, favourites and filters are yours alone.
No tracking. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party services. Only your display and view preferences stay in your browser.
Pictures. In the Reading, Magazine and Cards views, pictures are loaded directly from the websites that publish them, which receive your IP address just as when you visit their pages. The Expanded view loads no pictures. The small website icons, instead, are downloaded and kept by the RSSolo server: the websites don’t receive your IP address.
Clean reading. When you use it, the RSSolo server downloads the article page, without cookies and asking not to be tracked: the website doesn’t receive your IP address and its banners, ads and trackers never reach your device. The text obtained stays in a temporary cache for one day at most; the article’s pictures are loaded from the website that publishes them.
Notifications. If you turn them on, RSSolo keeps the anonymous address your browser provides to deliver them through Apple’s, Google’s or Mozilla’s service. The notification text travels encrypted: that service delivers it without being able to read it. You can turn them off in Settings at any time.
Keyword alerts. The words you follow are sent to Google News by the RSSolo server, not by your device: Google receives the search words, but not your IP address or your account. Opening an article from these alerts goes through Google News.
Infrastructure and rights. The website and database are hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., with the database in Western Europe. You can export your sources as OPML at any time and ask the administrator who invited you to delete your account.
