Questions and answers
Why do banners and ads appear when I open an article?
They come from the newspaper’s page. With clean reading RSSolo shows you only text and pictures without opening that page: in Settings, Reading, you can have it automatic or on request. If a website is paywalled or asks for consent, the Open on website button is still there.
How do I get alerts about a topic, like with Google Alerts?
Tap Alerts in the sidebar, or Add and the Alert tab: type a word or phrase and RSSolo shows you every new article about it, with a notification if you’ve turned them on. If you already have Google Alerts, set them to deliver as an RSS feed and paste their address in the Address tab.
How do I read newsletters in RSSolo?
In Settings, Newsletters, you’ll find your personal address: copy it and use it to subscribe to newsletters. Each one becomes a source in the Newsletters category and reads as it was designed. For the ones you already receive, change the address in their settings.
I’m getting spam at my newsletter address: what do I do?
In Settings, Newsletters, tap Create a new address: the old one stops working at once. Remember to update the address in the newsletters you want to keep receiving.
Where do I find reliable sources?
Tap Add: in the Catalogue tab pick the country, open a topic and tick the sources to follow, which go into the right category. There are sources from Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Spain, Germany and more.
I’m coming from Feedly or Inoreader: will I lose my sources?
No. Export your sources to an OPML file (on Feedly from feedly.com/i/opml, on Inoreader from Preferences, Import/Export) and upload it with Import from Feedly or OPML in the sidebar: you’ll find everything, with the same categories.
How do I group my sources?
Create categories in Add, Category tab, or in Manage next to Sources: there you can also move sources, turn on the bell and unfollow the ones you’re not interested in. Tapping a category shows all its articles together.
Why do some sources show no pictures?
Many websites don’t include pictures in their feed. RSSolo shows the ones the feed declares; for the other sources it uses the website’s initial.
How often are sources updated?
About every 15 minutes. Articles from a newly added source appear at once; those from sources imported via OPML within the next few minutes.
A source shows an error: what does it mean?
The website didn’t answer or blocks automated readers. RSSolo tries again by itself, at longer and longer intervals up to a day.
How do I install it on my phone?
On iPhone open rssolo.com in Safari, tap Share and then Add to Home Screen. On Android use the browser menu and choose Install app.
How do I turn on notifications on iPhone?
Open rssolo.com in Safari, tap Share and Add to Home Screen. Open RSSolo from the icon, go to Settings, Notifications, and tap Turn on. Then choose the sources that notify you with the bell in Categories and sources.
How do I turn the page on my phone?

Can I add a second check besides the password?
Yes: in Settings, Sign-in, tap Two-step verification and scan the QR code with Authenticator. From then on, after the password, RSSolo asks for the six-digit code. Save the emergency codes shown only once: you’ll need them if you lose your phone.
I forgot the password: what do I do?
The password can’t be recovered, because it isn’t stored anywhere. A new one is set from the computer, with the command node scripts/imposta-accesso.mjs in the project folder.
Can I take my sources to another reader?

How do I mark everything as read?

How do I save an article to read later?
